Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented therapy that works to alter unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours to improve mood and help people cope with problems. It may explore and take into account long-standing patterns, and helps people to develop healthier ways of responding to situations. Through the therapy, individuals learn skills to manage conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and even chronic pain. CBT teaches you how to manage your mind and create opportunities for positive change.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy that helps people heal from distressing life experiences by processing "stuck" memories, reducing their emotional impact. It uses bilateral stimulation, usually eye movements, while recalling traumatic events, allowing the brain to reprocess them so they become less vivid and distressing. In the NHS it is recommended alongside trauma-focused CBT for PTSD, and is used for anxiety, depression and other issues stemming from past events.
